Looking Between the Leaves // Posted Monday, August 30, 2010
Description
Another shot that I took in one of the gardens in the grounds of Arundel Castle, West Sussex. I think this one works quite nicely as a black & white image. There's some nice strong contrast with the sunlight breaking through some of the branches.
The main areas of processing that I carried out to acheive this final image were:
- Conversion to black & white, then implementing a strong contrast in the Tone Curve panel within Lightroom.
- Softened the skin tones and applied some slight sharpening to the eyes - the main point of focus.
- Added a small amount of vignetting.
- Added 2 graduated filters, one on either side of the image, decreasing the level of exposure slightly (more so on the right-hand side).
- Used some fill light to lighten up some of the leaves, and bring out some of the hair detail.
